LITTLE BIT ABOUT LOUIS

Over 34 years in the beauty industry, hairdresser and former salon owner, Louis worked for northeast’s largest full service distributors as a salon designer/consultant. I still design salons throughout the mid Atlantic states for the regions largest privately owned full service beauty distributor.

While speaking to many clients he learned an important service lacking in the market place was a top quality salon shear sharpening and repair service.

In the manner Louis does things he sought out the best teacher he could find. Jack Fleuridas, former owner of JA Fleuridas Co of Paterson, NJ.

Jack, now happily retired, was in the scissor business for over 25 years and the founder of the highly visible National Scissor Sharpening Guild (nssg.biz). This association today still offers continual education and support to sharpeners from all over the continent. Many scissor manufacturers and sharpening centers over the years sent their technicians to Jack for hands on one on one training.

Louis’s mentor Jack is available to continually train and keep his up with techniques in sharpening. Their unique bond and love for the industry they share has forged a friendship beyond Louis’s training.

To offer the best you need to become the best – training with Jack taught me to do all the work by hand under magnification using equipment used in the factories where many scissors are made.

Many times the blades are still very sharp, the set of the blades or tension between the blades may need adjustment and then will work as well as the day they were purchased. Each scissor is cleaned before all work begins. Once working properly they will be polished and oiled before returning to the professional.

This type of service cannot be performed going and setting up in each salon – a machine shop has been set up by Louis that offers a pick up and drop off 24 hour service.

Having a shop set up keeps consistency from start to finish of the days work.
Shears will be picked up late afternoon or early evening and returned the following day. Mail orders will be returned mailed in under 48 hours once received.

All types of scissor and shear sharpening is available, however there are times poorly sharpened scissors are never fully restorable  and we reserve the right not to work on shears in such conditions.
